August 27, 2012 - SRT Day 5

It's day 5 and I think we all are looking forward to arriving in Kearney tomorrow night.

Even the Golden Frau will be happy to be 'home'. Tomorrow's drive calls for 100+ temps along the way. After 10 more hours on the rode I know an icy cold beverage will be perfect!

August 24, 2012 - SRT - Day 2

Otto, our affectionately named Subaru, struggled a bit making it up the mountain pass from Idaho Falls down into Teton Village.
But we made it,

We saw a Grizzly Bear within our first 10 minutes inside Grand Tetons, and a female moose shortly after that.

I hope the girls will enjoy Yellowstone as much as I do.

August 23, 2012 - Summer Road Trip - Day 1

We have ventured off for our family vacation under vastly different circumstances than originally planned.

What began as a road trip for 6 in 2 cars; the Honda & Eos, has morphed into a road trip for 5 in the Subaru.
We are now traveling without A.C., without cruise control, without the benefit of a Hybrids gas mileage, and no new tires.

However, I am thankful to share the driving and am grateful to be in 1 car,... At least until the girls get tired if such close quarters.
(I am glad My flask is handy!)

August 22, 2012 - 32 Years

We celebrated our 32nd Anniversary at Pelican Pub & Brewery.

We were given a bottle of Bridal Ale courtesy of Ryan and Pelican to help us celebrate!

It was a nice surprise!

August 21, 2012 - It's my Bag

Actually, it's not My bag, it's a gift for someone I love!
My first attempt was far from perfect, but I think it will serve its purpose.

August 20, 2012 - Playing with Gabe

I enjoy living close to my grandson Gabe. It allows when me to witness his changes from week to week.
But each time I see him I can't help but long to see my grandsons in Nebraska.
I know all to well how fast kids grow up and how much I missing out on by living over 1500 miles away.

August 15, 2012 - Trip Planning

I began planning our summer trip last February.
Initially we were invited to go to Italy with a dear friend. I contemplated it, but the expense for 2 of us would have been upwards of 16,000 to 18,000.
I thought we could have a great time in Hawaii for less than half that.
But even $8000 was too much.
So we settled on Driving to Yellowstone and Nebraska and taking the kids.
I estimated this to be about $3000.
My guestimation back in February was fairly accurate.
As I crunched the numbers yesterday I was at $3125.00
Still a lot of money, but I think I can manage it.
And the kids get to join us,
And we get to see our oldest daughter and her family.
And we get to see old friends.
And...
The blessings will abound.

Someday though, I will get that illusive stamp in my passport book.

August 14, 2012 - Hazel Wood & Chris

I admire my older sister for so many reasons, just one of which is her gardening skills.

She gave me a 'Basil Bouquet'. I have been trying to grow basil for years, unsuccessfully.
