August 31, 2011 Roses: Sweet Spotlight

I delight in watching my roses bloom and am glad my new ones have taken root this year.
It seems as though more than six months have passed since they were planted,
But I guess not.

August 30, 2011 - SFSP Overlook

It was a long, yet wonderful, afternoon up at Silver Falls today.
I enjoy seeing the excitement in the kids eyes as they tell me about their hike.
I always learn something new from the other volunteers.
And I especially enjoy meeting people from other states and countries.
Today I had a nice chat with a couple from Sweden.  They had heard about Silver Falls
in a brochure and stopped by as they were making their way up and down the Pacific coast.

I anxiously await my next volunteer shift.

August 29, 2011 Sunflowers

I had a chance to work in my sister's community garden plot today.
I love gardening.
I love sunflowers, they remind me of home.
I love spending time with my sister,
and I really love the awesome taste of summer and all the fresh produce.

August 28, 2011 - Canoeing the Willamette

Today we canoed the Willamette River from Independence to Salem.
12 miles of clear, calm, water.
It was relaxing and wonderful and an absolutely beautiful day to be on the water.

I threw open the windows sat in the window still taking it all in.

Then it dawned on me...

August 24, 2011 Sunshower

This evening as I watered the roses & hops,
I felt a droplet hit the back of my neck.
I looked up, hoping it wasn't a bird,
Then more drops fell from a very clear blue sky.
Just a few puffy white clouds let go of a brief sunshower.
It reminded me of the hot summers in Kansas when a long awaited for thunderstorm blew through making everything fresh & clean again.
I don't miss those long hot summers, but I do miss the refreshing summer rains.

August 21, 2011

Ahhh... Johnny Walker Green.
I do love a good Scotch especially when shared with good friends.
I am blessed to have Torp here to share life and laughter.
Unfortunately time goes by too fast.

August 20, 2011

Its been another great day at the coast.
We've been blessed to have so many friends
and family members come visit this summer.
We tend to make more time for exploring when we have visitors.
Tonight it seems we have intruded on a doe's dinner.  Under her careful watch she continued to dine on the greens right outside our front door.

August 19, 2011 - The Beginning

I've been struggling to find time for photography,
time for blogging,
time for quilting, gardening, or even cleaning.
There just hasn't been time for me.

I get cranky when I there isn't time for me.
I need to time to create, recreation, and to re-create.
I don't need a LOT of time, just some time.
I have decided it is time to adjust and adapt to this current pace of life.

I don't like feeling cranky and I am pretty sure the kids don't like me
when I am cranky.

I am hoping a quick snapshot each day will help take the edge off of my cranky pants mood
at least for a while, or at least until I can make more time for re-creating.

Nothing too fancy, just a quick snapshot with my iphone.
Perhaps with a short caption.
Or maybe no caption.
Or even better, let anyone who sees the snapshot give the photo a caption.
It could be interesting and
it might just be enough to feed my soul until I have more time.
So here is today's snapshot....

I am already looking forward to tomorrow.
